Yesterday morning I met up with some of my favorite Chicago photographers at one of my favorite locations, Lighthouse Beach, in Evanston. Maybe the names don’t have the same ring to them as the first two supergroups, but it felt like one. Four photographers all fighting for the same stretch of beach. Egos butting up against each other. Just kidding. I had a great morning with a fun group of talented photographers. The light was good for about 2 minutes. Then it went away before making one more grand appearance, seen above.
There’s not much else to shoot here. Even though it’s called Lighthouse Beach and the lighthouse is pretty cool, I have yet to photograph it well. But the pier alone is worth the trip at sunrise. This is where I shot the image below which ended up winning 1st place in USA places at the Iowa State Fair. I imagine every time I go there I will try to find a composition I like better than this, but I’m not convinced that I will.
