Location Chicago: 18th Street Bridge

I’ve decided to team up with Out of Chicago Photography Experience run by Chris Smith. I think it’s a step in the right direction for myself, his vision, and Chicago photographers. The idea is to educate photographers in Chicago that are learning photography much like us, and those who are just beginning. Most of my posts will be “Location” related. Remember; by clicking the “Location Chicago” logo above you will be taken to all other posts related to the “18th Street Bridge.”

The best spot to park is in the baseball field parking lot. It’s free. Once there it’s a short hike up to the main areas of bridge. There are parts of the 18th Street Bridge that aren’t bridge. Meaning; you won’t get shake from cars driving over it. What I really like about this location is that there are multiple spots to shoot from that offer different foregrounds than the next. For example; Ping Tom Park, Amtrak Train Station, Chicago River, The baseball Field… These are all within the bridge’s reach so you can shoot different angles instead of being stuck with just the one.

  • Great photographs, Brian! I think it is so interesting to see Chicago from this angle; railways and bridges are so much a part of our city.
