HDR One and Out Of Chicago Photo Walk

Oh man. My website has been toast over the past few days. After cleaning out a Malware infection and reinstalling the software I think I may be back. I lost my posts that I made after the last backup of my site. One of them was the one announcing this weekend’s photo walk. So without further ado…

Join me Saturday, January 26th, for the next Out Of Chicago photo walk. This is a joint walk with HDR magazine, www.hdrone.com. So if you’re a fan of HDR One, Out Of Chicago, or just want to hang out with a great group of photographers, join us! If you haven’t read the HDR One magazine, you are missing out on a fantastic one-stop resource for HDR tips and tutorials. Thanks to Jimmy McIntyre for helping me organize and promote this.We will meet at 4PM at the People’s Gas Pavilion near South Pond at Lincoln Park.

I tried every angle that I could think of to find an interesting point of view. This was taken in the fading minutes of blue hour and it's the clouds that made me keep wanting to shoot this direction. 17mm Tilt ShiftToday I received the Canon 17mm TS-E from Canon to borrow for a week or so.  I am really excited to put this thing through its paces. So, as I usually do, I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions for where I should take this thing to shoot.  I'm thinking that I want to try it on some skyline shots with an close foreground.  I want to try to get some building shots using the shift feature of the lens.  I plan to shoot some interiors and I plan to do some three-shot panoramas with it.  Do you guys have any good ideas for me?

I will take some input on this walk. Where would you like to go? I’m thinking that we will shoot the Pavilion and the surrounding area. I’d like to shoot from the pedestrian bridge over Lake Shore Drive after the sun sets and shoot some from North Avenue Beach. Maybe we’ll hit Fullerton and some of the views of the Hancock across the lagoon if we’re adventurous. It looks like it will be a full moon as well. I’m sure we’ll grab drinks after. Anyone know a good place?

Hopefully the weather cooperates. It may be the coldest walk yet and the last one was cold! Bundle up!

When I’m not staying up all night figuring out the details of our next Out of Chicago Conference, you’ll find me at the park with our son and daughter, playing my guitar, out on the golf course, or following my favorite (Detroit) sports teams. I love Chicago, but I’ll always root for my Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, Michigan sports, and Pistons.
